¡¡HOLA!! My name is María Teresa Rodríguez Liébana and I am from Spain. I have such a long name because Spanish names have two last names (first after our dad, second after our mom) and, sometimes, our first names are also two, or even three! You will probably have Hispanic classmates with long names too, but now you know the reason why.
I have worked with students in Middle School for sixteen years in my city of origin, Madrid. I used to teach English there, but I teach Spanish now at Moore Square.
I have a Master in English as a Foreign Language from Complutense University in Madrid. I also have a Master in Education.
I worked in Augusta, GA, teaching Spanish at an Elementary School in a FLES Program in the year 1998-99.
For the last twelve years I have been working at Loreto School in Madrid, a private school belonging to the Ministry of Defense of Spain.
I am here with my husband and my 18-year-old daughter and this will be my fifth year at Moore Square. My daughter is going to be a 49er at UNC Charlotte so, we are very excited about it! Go niners!
I am looking forward to meeting my new students and saying hello to the old ones too. I strongly believe this school year is going to be the best ever.
I will do my best for my students to learn not only my language, but also my traditions and culture. I love my country of origin and I am looking forward to making my students love Spain too!
I am conscious I am the ambassador of my country at Moore Square, but I will also introduce the love to the Hispanic world in my lessons.
I know I have a lot to learn, but also a lot to teach. Even though it is my fifth year in the US, my students teach me so much every day.
I am here to learn and to open a window to my world for my students, that I hope they will fall in love with. I believe I can make my students grow in a global world, ready to look at the future, to be tolerant, open-minded and believers of the multiple benefits that knowing another cultures represent for them.
See you in my class!
